Bukele to meet Trump at the White House — Bitcoin Bromance Brewing?
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House today. The meeting has sparked questions about whether Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, which both leaders are interested in, will be a major talking point.

Ever since Bukele was elected president of El Salvador, he has taken bold and proactive measures to promote cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin. El Salvador became the world’s first nation to legalize Bitcoin under Bukele, and on November 17, 2022, he declared that his government would buy one Bitcoin every day. Now, El Salvador owns $566.56 million, or over 6,000 bitcoins.
Although the formal agenda has not been made public, reports indicate that, given Bukele’s consent to hold deported gang members from the United States, the discussions will center on border regulations, commerce, and security cooperation.
Nonetheless, there is a lot of excitement in the cryptocurrency world about Bitcoin potentially taking center stage. Both presidents have openly endorsed cryptocurrencies, with Trump calling for the United States to become a crypto capital and Bukele forecasting an exponential revaluation during Trump’s presidency.
The world is watching the meeting to see if these two leaders who support Bitcoin will start a new chapter in cryptocurrency policy.
