Trump suspends export restrictions on Nvidia H20 chips to China
According to NPR, President Trump decided to suspend the planned restrictions on Nvidia's H20 chip exports to China after having dinner with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in Mar-a-Lago. Insiders revealed that this policy change is related to Nvidia's commitment to increase investment in AI data centers in the United States. The H20 is currently the most advanced AI chip that American companies can legally export to China. Chinese tech companies have stockpiled about $16 billion of such chips this quarter, anticipating U.S. restrictions. Experts say this decision is a significant victory for China as its domestic chip production and performance are still insufficient. U.S lawmakers expressed concern about this, believing that every day of delay provides rival countries with an opportunity for technological reserves.
