Trump responds to "Group Chat Gate": Very satisfied with the outcome
In an interview on Tuesday, U.S. President Trump expressed that he was "very satisfied" with the explanation and handling of how a magazine editor ended up joining a group chat with members of the White House National Security Team. Trump discussed with Newsmax host Greg Kelly about how Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was invited to join a group chat about attacking Yemen's Houthi forces. Trump said that Goldberg's contact information was provided by John Bolton’s team at the White House National Security Council. "We believed this person had permission; I guess it was someone who worked for Bolton - someone lower-ranking - who had Goldberg's phone number or called through an app somehow, and this person answered," Trump told Kelly. "To my knowledge, it wasn't confidential. There were no secrets involved. No problems at all; the attack was hugely successful."I can only do what others tell me; I didn’t participate in it myself but I’ve been informed – nobody else participated either actually but I feel very reassured,” added Trump.
