Cardano and SERPRO: Historic partnership boosts blockchain in Brazil

A Cardano Foundation announced on March 6 a strategic partnership with SERPRO, Brazil’s state-owned information technology giant. The central goal of the collaboration is to integrate Cardano’s blockchain technology into government systems, modernizing public administration and boosting digital governance in the country.
“Serpro, the world’s largest public information technology company, has signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Cardano Foundation, a Swiss non-profit institution and reference in blockchain, to train the company’s professionals in the technology. The goal is to expand the adoption of blockchain in the Brazilian public sector, bringing greater efficiency to processes and strengthening the prevention and fight against fraud,” the company announced.
SERPRO is responsible for 90% of Brazil’s federal public administration and processes an impressive 33 billion transactions per year. The IT giant will play a crucial role in the implementation of Cardano’s blockchain technology.
“The partnership foresees the implementation of joint training and innovation initiatives, including access for Serpro professionals to the Cardano Academy program, which offers specialized courses in the area. In addition, the cooperation enables applied research on blockchain, development of digital infrastructure and integration of this technology into government services.”
The strategic partnership between Cardano and SERPRO comes at a time when Brazil stands out globally in digital government maturity, ranking second in the World Bank ranking. Alexandre Amorim, president of Serpro, highlighted the importance of the partnership.
“The agreement reinforces the company’s commitment to the modernization of public administration and the adoption of innovative technologies, especially favoring the expansion of the use of blockchain in the Brazilian State,” stated .
The collaboration between Cardano and SERPRO represents a significant milestone for Brazil, with the potential to transform the way the government interacts with citizens. The adoption of blockchain promises to increase transparency, accountability and efficiency of public sector operations, benefiting millions of Brazilians.
