The Ethereum community launched an informal on-chain vote to support Danny Ryan as the new leader of the Foundation
PANews reported on January 30 that according to The Block, Ethereum community members overwhelmingly supported Danny Ryan to become the next leader of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) in an unofficial on-chain vote. Currently, 99% of the 296 wallets holding more than 50,000 ETH (worth about $160 million) voted for Ryan, but the vote has no formal effect.
The vote was initiated by Ethereum developer Fabrice Cheng to provide a channel for ETH holders, stakers and DeFi participants to express their opinions. At the same time, Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin also suggested that Danny Ryan and ETH France President Jerome de Tychey jointly lead EF to enhance technical orientation and vitality.
Danny Ryan was a core researcher at the Ethereum Foundation and played an important role in key upgrades such as Proof of Stake (PoS) and The Merge. He said he had started a dialogue with Vitalik Buterin and other members of the EF to explore the possibility of governance reform. At present, Vitalik still retains the final say on changes in the foundation's leadership.
