Engineer Who Lost Drive With 8000 Bitcoins Figures Out How To Find It

Engineer and programmer James Howells, who lost a laptop hard drive containing 11 bitcoins in a landfill 8000 years ago, said he has developed a plan to find it.

He said he hired a team of lawyers and used artificial intelligence to find legal precedents that would allow him to get the city council to search for the bitcoin drive.
The engineer assures that there is still hope that a disk with the first cryptocurrency will be found in a large landfill.

If it still cannot be found, then the city council should be forced to compensate for the losses from the lost property, the entrepreneur believes.

According to him, robotic dogs can help in searching for the disk, which he already mentioned 2 years ago. If the search is successful, then part of the bitcoins will be spent on providing some project, reinvesting in the crypto market and supporting the local community, the engineer noted.

James Howells lives in Newport, Wales. In 2013, he accidentally threw away his hard drive from a broken laptop, which contained passwords to 8000 bitcoins. Howells suspects this happened in mid-June or early August.

In the fall of 2023, lawyers wrote a letter to the city council asking for an engineer to access the excavations at the dump. However, the programmer was refused, motivated by fears of environmental damage. Now he has filed a lawsuit to force the council to compensate him for damages if the disk is not found.
