Polygon’s (POL) Web3 Unification Plans Get Magic Labs UX Boost
- Polygon’s (POL) AggLayer is set to get a UX boost.
- Polygon (POL) Labs CEO Marc Boiron is excited about Magic Labs’ efforts.
- The recent development comes as the AggLayer looks set to achieve a new milestone.
Polygon’s (POL) push to connect all of Web3 is gaining momentum and showing no signs of slowing. Over the past few months, the AggLayer , the ZK-powered interoperability solution backed by Polygon (POL), has received support from all kinds of chains and infrastructure providers, including MoveVM .
In the latest instance, the project has received support from wallet abstraction pioneer Magic Labs, a move that promises to make cross-chain interactions simpler than ever.
Magic Labs Unveils Newton
Polygon’s (POL) AggLayer is set to get a UX boost. On Thursday, November 7, Magic Labs unveiled Newton, a chain built with Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK) , which is focused on simplifying the experience of using chains connected to the AggLayer.

Described as “the first chain unification network,” Newton will have several features that allow users to interact with applications on the AggLayer without worrying about or even needing to know which chain they are on.
These features include chain-abstracted smart wallets, free wallets, gas subsidies, and cross-chain applications built around AggLayer’s unified liquidity.
Commenting on Magic Labs’ Newton announcement , Polygon (POL) Labs CEO Marc Boiron tipped the network as the perfect companion for AggLayer to fulfill its mission.
"As we are contributing to building out the AggLayer at Polygon, we know the underlying infra needs to be solid. But the part that really matters is crushing the UX, and a team like Magic is key to bringing this to life with Newton," he wrote. The recent development comes as the AggLayer looks set to achieve a new milestone.
Version 0.2
So far, Polygon (POL) Labs has chosen to roll out the AggLayer in phases. In February 2024, the protocol’s shared bridge to support CDK chains went live . Now, the team has revealed that version 0.2 of the protocol, which will support all EVM chains , will go live in December 2024.
Beyond supporting all EVM chains, the team noted that version 0.2 will also come with fungible token transfer support and low cost. In its finished form, the AggLayer will facilitate near-instant and atomic transactions across chains.
The AggLayer is at the core of Polygon’s 2.0 architecture, which plans to infinitely scale Ethereum by horizontally connecting as many chains as possible atop the Layer 1 chain. Other components include a planned staking layer and Polygon’s revamped POL token .
On the Flipside
- Newton is currently only available in a private testnet .
- There is no clear date for Polygon’s AggLayer launch.
Why This Matters
Magic Labs’ AggLayer integration promises to strengthen Polygon’s efforts to connect all of Web3 significantly.
