Sei will launch Sei V2 upgrade to become a parallelized EVM blockchain
Layer1 blockchain Sei announced the upcoming release of Sei V2 upgrade, becoming a parallelized EVM blockchain. New features include backward compatibility of EVM smart contracts, reusability of widely used applications and tools (such as MetaMask), Optimistic parallelization, SeiDB (improvements to the storage layer), and interoperability with existing chains (allowing seamless integration between EVM and any other execution environment supported by Sei).
Sei stated that Sei V2 will provide a throughput of 28,300 batch transactions per second, with a block time and finality of 390 milliseconds. Sei's main upgrade is currently nearing code completion. Once reviewed, this upgrade will be released on the public testnet in the first quarter of 2024 and will be deployed on the mainnet in the first half of 2024.
