U.S. District Judge: Midjourney and DeviantArt lawsuit will not proceed
A judge in the United States ruled that the lawsuit against the AI image generator Midjourney and the digital art community platform DeviantArt will not proceed, ruling that the plaintiff did not provide sufficient evidence to support its copyright infringement claims. Judge William Orrick said the allegations of copyright infringement were "deficient in many respects" and approved the defendant's motion to dismiss. Although the lawsuit against Midjourney and DeviantArt is at a standstill, Orrick did allow for a separate infringement claim to be filed against AI developer Stability AI.
