XRP Price Analysis  XRP/USD is currently trading at $1.8247 as of April 9, 2025, down approximately 46.33% from its peak of $3.40 in January 2025. On April 8, XRP attempted to break above the $2 resistance level but was rejected by the bears, indicating they are trying to establish this level as a strong resistance.  The chart shows a descending triangle pattern with a resistance line (labeled "H") and a support zone around $1.61 (labeled "S"). If the price fails to hold the $1.61 support and breaks below, the XRP/USDT pair could continue its downtrend, with the next support at $1.27.  Conversely, if the bulls push the price above the 20-day EMA ($2.10), it would signal strong demand at lower levels. The 50-day SMA ($2.968) may act as a minor hurdle, but if surpassed, the price could rally to the descending triangle’s resistance line. However, bears are likely to sell aggressively at this resistance, potentially causing another pullback.  The RSI (14) is currently at 33.33, near oversold territory, which could indicate a potential bounce if buying pressure increases. U.S. legislators are pushing for clearer regulations on crypto, in an effort to keep the $2.7 trillion crypto industry in the U.S. U.S. Congress is seeing another major push for regulatory clarity on crypto. On April 9, the House financial services committee’s subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence held a hearing on crypto regulation. The goal of the hearing was to find ways to align U.S. securities laws with the realities of the digital age, especially with regard to crypto assets. In his remark to the committee, House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill commended the committee’s “bipartisan efforts to bring clarity and stability” to crypto assets. He also stated that he hoped that there would be meaningful legislation by the end of 2025. French Hill Despite offering criticism to the SEC, especially under Gary Gensler, committee members highlighted the SEC’s role in regulation. Subcommittee chairman Bryan Steil stated that the SEC would have a role in regulating token offerings. “At the same time, the Committee feels strongly that there is a role for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to play in the digital asset ecosystem. For example, the Committee believes that issuers raising capital through the sale of new digital assets should fall under the jurisdiction of the SEC,” Rep. Bryan Steil This would likely not include memecoins, as the SEC, already under Gensler, ruled that memecoins were not securities. The rationale was that memecoins had no utility and are more akin to collectibles. The committee did face opposition, especially when Rep. Maxine Waters took the floor. She accused the members of the committee of favoritism toward Donald Trump’s crypto ventures, enabling him to become “crypto king.” The hearing is a part of the latest regulatory push to give clarity to crypto assets in the U.S. For instance, on May 22, the U.S. House passed the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act with bipartisan support.

In the US, there have been cases, in which issuers have been suited because they did not act according to security laws. In the EU, there is not even a consistent definition of a security token. Furthermore, it lacks clear national rules with regard to STOs including duties with respect to STO reporting and documentation. Since regulatory questions for STOs and security tokens have not been sufficiently answered, crypto exchanges are reluctant to list security tokens. They behave cautiously since they fear negative consequences due to unclear regulation. Besides, it is not even clear yet who can potentially invest into security tokens. Similar to stocks, a regulatory environment has to be established for investors. If the regulatory framework was clear, it would remove uncertainty and could motivate institutional investors to invest into the tokens. This would constitute a milestone for establishing this new form of financing for corporations . However, financial authorities are already engaged with companies that intend to issue security tokens. The FMA in Austria for instance approved a fully compliant prospectus for a profit participation right to be issued on the Ethereum blockchain at the end of 2018 and further STOs in other jurisdictions such as in Malta, Gibraltar and Liechtenstein are expected to take place soon.
