Illuvium is a decentralized blockchain game on Immutable X, a Layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution. In the game, players take on the role of a survivor on a ruined planet, capturing and controlling powerful creatures called Illuvials. The game was introduced in 2020.
How Illuvium (ILV) Works
Upon starting the Illuvium, players create and customize their character and select a Polymorphic Subordinate Drone before exploring the game's world, capturing Illuvials, and battling other players. The game features over 100 unique Illuvials with different abilities and affinities, which can be captured and fused together to create more powerful creatures. The game also includes a team-building aspect, where players must strategically choose Illuvials with different classes and affinities to maximize their chances of victory. The Illuviary is a digital index of all the Illuvials in the game, which players can unlock by capturing them. The game emphasizes discovery and exploration, with many of the Illuvials being a mystery until players capture them.
In-game purchases are made using ETH, and players can mine minerals and harvest resources to create weapons and armor. The IlluviDEX is an online marketplace for buying and selling in-game NFTs, and imbues are cosmetic changes that can be applied to various items in the game.
